Upgrade Management Systems With Top Management Support
Futurepast's five-phased approach helps an organization design or improve its standards-based management system efficiently and effectively. Steps in the five phases include:
Phase I: Preassessment
- Conduct a gap analysis
- Review relevant policies with top management
- Establish a project working group
- Develop an action plan
Phase II: Planning
- Flowchart management system processes
- Assign process owners for each process
- Identify management system documentation needs
- Identify environmental aspects, health and safety hazards, and assess significance and risk
- Develop environmental, health and safety, and quality objectives and targets
- Prepare implementation plans
- Review objectives and targets, and implementation plans, with top management
Phase III: Implementation and Training
- Create or revise management system procedures
- Consider process changes in light of objectives and targets and revise processes as needed
- Establish management program(s)
- Document additional required operating procedures
- Train employees on revised/improved procedures
Phase IV: Checking and Preventive Action
- Implement procedures to monitor and measure performance
- Utilize procedures to address nonconformities
- Ensure regulatory compliance
- Conduct internal audits
Phase V: Management Review
- Conduct management reviews to assure the management system's continued adequacy and suitability
- Identify and track needed changes to assure continual improvement
