Who Should Attend

This course is for persons who will conduct internal audits of environmental management systems. It is based upon ISO 14001:2004, "Environmental management systems--Requirements with guidance for use," and ISO 19011:2002, "Guidelines for quality and environmental management systems auditing." Participants will learn:

  • How the experts interpret each element of the standard
  • Techniques for effective auditing
  • How to establish and maintain an internal audit program

The course is taught by John Shideler, an RABQSA accredited EMS and Responsible Care lead auditor. John has served as a US expert to ISO Technical Committee 207's Subcommittee 2, Auditing and related investigations, and participated in the writing of ISO 14064-3:2006, a greenhouse gas verification standard. He works as a subcontracted third-party auditor for three accredited registrars: ABS Quality Evaluations, Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance, and NSF-ISR.
